ASKING AND GIVING DIRECTIONS - PEDIR Y DAR DIRECCIONES

La manera más sencilla y más directa de preguntar cómo llegar a un sitio es usar una de las siguientes frases:

1.Excuse me, where is the ………. station / parque del Retiro / cathedral / castle / etc.?
Perdone, ¿dónde está la estación de ………. / el parque del Retiro / la catedral / el castillo / etc.?

2. Excuse me, how can I get to the city centre / the bus station / etc.? 
Disculpe, ¿cómo puedo llegar al centro / a la estación de autobuses / etc.?

Puede que también escuches a personas que usen alguna de las siguientes opciones, con el fin de no resultar tan directos; fíjate en que se añaden frases introductorias, que aportan un aire menos brusco:

1. Excuse me, can / could you tell me where the ………. is?

Perdone, ¿puede / podría decirme dónde está el / la ……….?

2. Excuse me, can / could you tell me / do you know how I can get to ……….?
Disculpe, ¿puede / podría decirme / sabe cómo puedo llegar a ……….?

3. Excuse me, can / could you tell me how to get to ………., please?
Perdone, ¿puede / podría decirme cómo llegar a ………., por favor?

INDICACIONES

Turn left / right. Gire / Gira a la izquierda / derecha.

Take the first / second / etc. on the left / right. Coja / Coge la primera / segunda / etc. a la izquierda / derecha.

Go / Walk straight along. Siga / Sigue recto.

Cross at the traffic lights / road sign. Cruce / Cruza en el semáforo / la señal.

Continue on this side of the road. Siga / Sigue en este lado de la calle / carretera.

You will see… Verá / Verás…

It’s next to / in front of / between… Está al lado de / delante de / entre…

It’s (quite) near / far. Está (bastante) cerca / lejos.

It’s on / around the corner. Está en la esquina / a la vuelta de la esquina.

It’s on your left / right. Está a su / tu izquierda / derecha.
